The Author - Karl F. Kahlau - Twin Lens Reflex Cameras
Karl F. Kahlau, the author of this book, was born in 1936 in Berlin, Germany. In 1955 he began his education by studying at the business-school for photographic retail-merchants in Berlin and got his practical experience in the photographic profession as apprentice by working at Polyfoto GmbH, one of the leading retail stores in Berlin.
After his examination as merchant in photo retailing he left Germany in 1958 in order to get further education in other countries. By way of Sweden, where he worked for Forsners AB, at that time Stockholm’s largest photographic wholesaler/retailer, and Spain he went to the USA where he was working for Agfa Inc. (later Agfa-Gevaert Inc.) as advertising and sales promotion manager in New York until 1966.
With his experience in retailing, as well as in the wholesale and industrial business he returned to his wife’s home country Sweden and started his own import/export company.
As an enthusiastic collector of 6x6 TLR-cameras, engaged in the photographic industry for over 40 years he was inspired to collect all available information on 6x6 TLRs and write this extensive reference encyclopaedia & value guide to 6x6 TLRs for everyone who is interested in the history, the development and the great number of models produced.
